{"id":311,"date":"2017-06-12T05:35:22","date_gmt":"2017-06-12T05:35:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rohrzim.org\/?p=311"},"modified":"2018-07-02T21:32:24","modified_gmt":"2018-07-02T21:32:24","slug":"rohr-zimbabwes-southampton-branch-is-born","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rohr-zimbabwe.org\/index.php\/2017\/06\/12\/rohr-zimbabwes-southampton-branch-is-born\/","title":{"rendered":"ROHR Zimbabwe&#8217;s Southampton Branch Is Born"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>ROHR ZIMBABWE\u2019S SOUTHAMPTON BRANCH IS BORN<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>By Panyika Anselm Karimanzira<\/p>\n<p><strong>ROHR ZIMBABWE\u2019S SOUTHAMPTON BRANCH IS BORN<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Just over a month ago, Linda Zvabva, a passionate human rights activist and member of ROHR Zimbabwe came up with the idea of mobilizing membership and forming a branch of ROHR Zimbabwe in Southampton.<\/p>\n<p>She approached the National Executive of the UK Chapter, who immediately took the idea on board.<\/p>\n<p>Linda Zvabva and the UK Chapter National Executive then started approaching known local human rights activists who included the likes of Charles Mugwindiri, Blessing Rinashe and Triphine Maguwu, with a view to mobilizing for the formation of the proposed branch.<\/p>\n<p>18<sup>th<\/sup> February, 2012 was then set as the date for the official launch of ROHR Zimbabwe Southampton branch and indeed, ROHR Zimbabwe Southampton Branch, which started as a simple idea, was born on that day.<\/p>\n<p>The occasion was graced by The Chairperson of The Board of Trustees of ROHR Zimbabwe, Grace Mupfutsa and overseen by members of the ROHR Zimbabwe\u2019s UK National Executive Committee in the mould of Ronald Oputeri (Acting Chairperson), Paradzai Mapfumo (National Co-ordinator) and Panyika Karimanzira (Secretary for Information &amp; Publicity)<\/p>\n<p>The branch committee that evolved from the launch comprises of the following;<\/p>\n<p>Linda Zvabva &#8211; Chairperson<\/p>\n<p>Aleck Sigauke &#8211; Vice Chairperson<\/p>\n<p>Charles Mugwindiri &#8211; Secretary<\/p>\n<p>Doreen Williams &#8211; Vice Secretary<\/p>\n<p>Traiphine Maguwu\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0Secretary for Information &amp; Publicity<\/p>\n<p>Maggie Rinashe &#8211; Treasurer<\/p>\n<p>Loveness Gonyora &#8211; Deputy treasurer<\/p>\n<p>Blessing Rinashe &#8211; Organizing Secretary<\/p>\n<p>Brian Kaitano &#8211; Deputy Organizing Secretary<\/p>\n<p>Winfred Moyo &#8211; Fundraiser<\/p>\n<p>Rebecca Mupawose &#8211; Deputy Fundraiser<\/p>\n<p>In her maiden speech, Linda Zvabva, the chairperson thanked everyone for making this historic event a resounding success and pledged to work hard with her new team, towards furthering the human rights cause.<\/p>\n<p>Other speakers at the event included Ms Grace Mupfurutsa, Mr Ronald Oputeri, Mr Paradzai Mapfumo and Mr Panyika Karimanzira who collectively gave the complete history of ROHR Zimbabwe as well as its aims &amp; objectives.
