The meeting was\nchaired by Tsungirirai Kahiya (Tsungi).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Register\nof attendance<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:-3px\">In attendance: Nicolate Gwati, Tsungirirai\nKahiya, Lilian T Nleya, Pythias Makonese, Weston Mupfururirwa, Daisy\nMandianike, Panyika Karimanzira, Glen Karimanzira, Dambudzo Marimira, Paradzai\nMapfumo, Leon Mapfumo, Sibonile Mlotshwa, Gladys R Dube, Olivia Chamboko<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Agenda<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Opening prayer<\/li><li>Introductions<\/li><li>Reading and adoption of previous meeting minutes<\/li><li>Matters arising from previous meeting<\/li><li>Secretary\u2019s report on the branch by Nicolate <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:-3px\">b) Tasks\nupdate<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>c)\nDiscussion<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Organising Secretary\u2019s report by Lilian<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:-3px\">b) Tasks\nupdate<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:-3px\">c)\nDiscussion<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Treasurer\u2019s report by Grace<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:-3px\">b)\nDiscussion<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>c)\nMembership renewal<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Fundraiser\u2019s report by Marian<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Discussion<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Communication\nand time keeping<\/li><li>Any\nother business<\/li><li>Closing\nprayer<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Meeting started at 2:40pm<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:-3px\"><strong>1)<\/strong> Tsungirirai\nstarted by welcoming people and the minutes of meeting from our previous\nmeeting on the 23<sup>rd<\/sup> of April 2019 were read and adopted<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:-3px\"><strong>2)<\/strong> Secretary\u2019s\nreport by Nicolate- Ni<strong>colate <\/strong>gave her report on points that were raised\nat the last last meeting, tasks given to members and the way forward:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li><strong>Update\non points raised on last meeting<\/strong><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Sandra\ncame up with the idea of having a pot of money that will help people with\ntransportation to demonstrations and meetings in other cities <\/li><li>Caroline\nsuggested Nottingham Forum and she will go and find out how we can partner with\nthem<\/li><li>Tafadzwa\nsuggested Zinthiya Trust that helps women <\/li><li>Vincent\nwill go and speak to Zinthiya about their work<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol><li><strong>Tasks\ngiven out to members <\/strong><\/li><li>Daisy Mandianike was given a task about\nwomen who were raped<\/li><li>Lilian will help Daisy Mandianike <\/li><li>Weston donated \u00a310 towards our\nfundraising initiative<\/li><li>Nicolate will check dates in August when\nthe youth centre will be free so that we can plan for our Cultural day<\/li><li>Weston will look at hats, caps and\nt-shirts that we can sell<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol><li><strong>Way\nForward <\/strong><\/li><li>New campaign<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:-3px\">An example of an activist: Greta\nThunberg is a climate change activist from Sweden. She is 16 and has 622.8K\nfollowers on twitter and 1.6m followers on Instagram. She has mobilised other\nstudents to hold demonstrations, was invited to join a massive demonstration\nthat was held in the UK on climate change. She started striking by herself\noutside the Swedish parliament in 2018 regularly and started attracting media\nattention. She began the school strike for climate change that has now spread\nto other students throughout the world. On the 15<sup>th<\/sup> of March 2019 about\n1.4m students from 112 countries joined her call in striking and protesting. In\nMay 2019 she was featured on the cover of Time Magazine. She is also quoted as\nhaving said, \u2018\u2018\u2026.you say you\u2019re an activist so act\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Marian came up with\nways that we can fundraise<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Communication and time\nkeeping<\/strong><\/li><li>Can people please come on time for the\nmeetings <\/li><li>People need to know their organisation\nby looking at the Facebook page, Flickr account, the website and the WhatsApp\ngroups<\/li><li>Nicolate stated that people in the\nbranch want other people to do the activism for them and Mr Karimanzira\nreiterated this by saying that some people don\u2019t even know where the ROHR\nFlickr account is <\/li><li>Mr Karimanzira suggested that we could\nstart a ROHR You tube page <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Tasks still to be done from previous meeting<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:-3px\">We\nhave not yet received the report from Vincent on Zinthya Trust<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:-3px\">Daisy\nand Lilian have not yet completed their task of looking at the stats with\nregards to the rapes that have occurred in Zimbabwe since President Mnangagwa\ntook office. We will need these stats by the 24<sup>th<\/sup> of May 2019, and\nthis can help to kick start the discussion on rape<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:-3px\">Mr\nKarimanzira commented that everyone in the branch needs to take ownership of\nthe organisation which will result in everyone being active as an activist<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Way forward for the\nbranch<\/strong><\/li><li>Tsungi stated that we need to push forward\nwith the rape campaign as there are also psychological implications of rape\nthat need to be addressed <\/li><li>Nicolate suggested that Lilian look at\nthe report that was released by an NGO after the 2008 rapes and also the child\nrape cases that have been occurring in Zimbabwe <\/li><li>Mr Makonese suggested that we should\nhave one area of focus instead of doing different things and Nicolate noted\nthat activism has many areas and that people should not only be confined to\ndoing their activism in ROHR but should be done wherever that person is <\/li><li>Tsungi suggested that we can break down\nthe rape task into different aspects so that we can start a campaign on rape\nand look into doing some charity work that can help these women<\/li><li>Weston was talking about not only\nfocusing on one organisation but looking at different organisations that deal\nwith women <\/li><li>Mr Makonese was given the task of\nlooking at whether there have been other tasks that have been started that focus\non women rapes<\/li><li>It was noted that President Mnangagwa\ndenied that there were any rapes that occurred and asked to be shown the women\nwho had been raped <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Tasks that were given<\/strong><\/li><li>Lilian\nand Daisy are going to look at the stats of the rapes that have occurred <\/li><li>Mr\nMakonese is going to find out if there are currently any campaign that are\ngoing on with regards to rapes<\/li><li>Sibonile\nwill look at how many women have anonymously spoken out about being raped<\/li><li>Precious\nD Marechera will be looking at what the government\u2019s response has been to these\nrape allegations and have they put anything in place to address these\nallegations<\/li><li>Weston\nis going to be looking at the social implications of being raped and the\nwell-being of these women who have been raped. Weston noted that some of the\nwomen who were raped were raped in front of their children and husbands<\/li><li>Gladys Dube will look at organisations\nthat advocate for women who have been raped both here in the UK and in\nZimbabwe.&nbsp; <\/li><li>We\nneed a portable banner with a pull up stand for our branch. We need people to\nlook into it and get prices and compare. Olivia Chamboko has donated \u00a320\ntowards this. Tsungi will do designs for the banner and see which ones people\nare happy with <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Any other business<\/strong><\/li><li>Mr\nKarimanzira noted that we are not seeing any activity at National Level and\nNicolate responded by saying that she had suggested that we have a national\ncampaign but there was no response<\/li><li>Mr Karimanzira stated that both Mr\nMapfumo and himself are not on the UK Chapter whatsapp group and asked if they could\nbe added on<\/li><li>Mr Mapfumo advised that ROHR Zimbabwe\nhad managed to donate stationary at one of the centres in Zimbabwe. This\nstationary is meant for the children who were affected by the cyclone in\nChimanimani&nbsp; <\/li><li>Mr\nMapfumo donated \u00a35 towards our transport money pot<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:-3px\">All agenda items and any other business having\u00a0been exhausted, Tsungirirai Kahiya\u00a0declared the meeting closed at 16:30 hrs.
