The meeting was chaired\nby Olive Tsungirirai Kahiya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:-3px\"><strong>Register of\nattendance<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:-3px\">Nicolate Gwati,\nTsungirirai Kahiya, Richard Jaramba, Lilian T Nleya, Kingdom Mvumi, Cloud\nChunga, Herbert Tayengwa, Weston Mupfururirwa<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:-3px\"><strong>Agenda<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Opening prayer<\/li><li>Matters arising from previous meeting<\/li><li>Secretary\u2019s report by Nicolate Gwati<\/li><li>Fundraiser\u2019s report by Marian Mangani<\/li><li>Organising Secretary\u2019s report by\nLilian Nleya<\/li><li>Treasure\u2019s report by Grace Makoni<\/li><li>Communication and timekeeping<\/li><li>Any other business<\/li><li>Closing prayer<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:-3px\"><strong>Meeting started 14:30hrs<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:-3px\"><strong>Secretary\u2019s Report by Nicolate Gwati<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:-3px\">Nicolate started by\nsummarising matters arising from the previous meeting before steering the\nmeeting towards allocation of action points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:-3px\">Action points were\nallocated as follows;-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Researching on rapes \u2013 Lilian Tinashe\nNleya<\/li><li>Researching on Arbitrary arrests \u2013 Nomagugu\nSibanda<\/li><li>Researching on Civilian shootings \u2013\nNicolate Gwati<\/li><li>Researching on Harassment in the\nneighbourhood \u2013 Daisy Mandianike<\/li><li>Researching on Abductions \u2013 Marian\nManagani<\/li><li>Researching on Corruption \u2013 Ruvimbo\nRuzvidzo<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:-3px\">A suggestion was also\nmade for members to create a skit that would mark the launch of the forthcoming\n\u201cinjustices campaign\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:-3px\"><strong>Fundraiser\u2019s Report by Marian Mangani<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The food donated was as follows:\nDerere, Lacto culture milk,&nbsp;Madora, soft drinks, Maheu, Chicken, stew,\nMutakura, Rice with peanut butter, hard chicken. peanuts\/nzungu, water, mazondo\nand snacks.&nbsp;<\/li><li>These were donated by the following\nmembers;Grace Makoni, Marian Mangani, Nomagugu Sibanda, Weston Mupfururirwa,\nPrecious Moyo, Lilian Nleya, Lydia, Sandra Chidemo, Nicolate Gwati, Daisy\nMandianike&nbsp;and Olive R Ruzvidzo.<\/li><li>Weston Mupfururirwa also donated face\npainting kit whilst Lilian Nleya also donated cloths for car wash worth \u00a35 and\nfairy liquid.<\/li><li>Other donations were Beauty packs and\n5 Key rings.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:-3px\"><strong>Organizing Secretary\u2019s Report by\nLilian Nleya<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li><strong>Family, Fun and Culture Day\n2019<\/strong><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:-3px\">The Family, fun and culture day took place on the\n31st of August. A big thank you to all who donated money, food and labour to\nthe event. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:-3px\">The turnout was disappointing but not surprising\ndue to the disharmony in the Board of Trustees and the resultant confusion in\nthe UK Chapter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:-3px\">No activities were undertaken due to the poor\nturnout. Even Midlands members who were expected to turn out in their numbers\ndue to proximity were happy to donate food and money but did not attend the\nevent. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Campaigns<\/strong><\/li><li>We have been trying to click start\ncampaigns in the past few monthsto highlight the Human Rights abuses and\ninjustices in Zimbabwe. This has not been fruitful as the participation of\nmembers is very poor.&nbsp; <\/li><li>The meet Your MP campaign was a\nsuccess and due to the increase in human rights abuses in Zimbabwe this\ncampaign will be started again, and I am encouraging all members to take\npart.&nbsp; <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>UK Chapter updates<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:-3px\">A new UK Chapter Executive Committee was voted in\non 9<sup>th<\/sup> August 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Upcoming Events<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Zimbabweans will be protesting against\nthe SADC Chairperson at the Tanzania Embassy in London on the 25<sup>th<\/sup>\nof October 2019 and most of our members in the UK will be participating.<\/li><li>UK Chapter and Midlands Branch\nChristmas Parties \u2013 Dates yet to be confirmed. <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Treasurer\u2019s Report&nbsp; by Grace Makoni<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:-3px\">Daisy Mandianike donated \u00a35 towards the Culture\nDay in August<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Any Other Business<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:-3px\"><strong>Proposed\nCampaign<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Richard suggested that we need to do a\ncampaign that looks at how personal freedoms in Zimbabwe have been violated<\/li><li>He also encouraged us to be consistent\nwith our message if we want to have an impact<\/li><li>Nicolate suggested that we could focus\non how corruption is killing the country and Tsungi suggested that we could\nname the campaign \u2018Corruption is how they rob us. <\/li><li>Under this campaign we could look at\nthe situation in our hospitals, sanitation in Zimbabwe, Lack of education due\nto lack of money to pay for fees, fuel shortages, food shortages, lack of\neconomic and social reforms, the government\u2019s bid to silence people, the issue\nof cartels in the fuel industry and the diamond revenue that went missing <\/li><li>It was suggested that demonstrations\ncould be staged in each UK&nbsp; Midlands city\nwhere our members reside.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:-3px\">All the agenda items\nwere deliberated upon in detail and in a robust and enthusiastic way in a\nmeeting where everyone present made contributions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:-3px\">With all the agenda\nitems having been disposed of, the Chairperson declared the meeting closed at\n16.00 hrs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:-3px\">To view pictures taken\nat the event, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/rohr_zimbabwe__manchester\/albums\/72157711017421878\">click here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:-3px\"><strong>By: Information &amp; Publicity Department<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cover pic: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/rohr_zimbabwe__manchester\/48776146811\/in\/album-72157711017421878\/\">https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/rohr_zimbabwe__manchester\/48776146811\/in\/album-72157711017421878\/<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>21st September 2019 On Saturday the 20th of July 2019 the Midlands Branch of the UK Chapter of Restoration of Human Rights (ROHR) Zimbabwe held a meeting at Secular Hall, 75 Humberstone Gate, Secular Hall, Leicester, LE1 1WB.
