ROHR ZIMBABWE MANCHESTER BRANCH ENGAGES IN VOLUNTARY COMMUNITY WORK AT ARDWICK SPORTS HALL
By Panyika Karimanzira – 30th September,2012
On Saturday 29th September, 2012 eight members of ROHR Zimbabwe’s Manchester branch, namely Panyika Karimanzira, Zvipo Jabangwe, Joyce Murimba, David Ngenya, Mavu Chinyani, Lorraine Mudjgiwa, Justice Sibanda and Delina Mutyambizi turned up at Ardwick Sports Hall, 225 Sockport Road, Ardwick, Manchester M12 4DY to perform community work.
This was in response to a call for partnership by Healthy Ardwick, a registered charity which delivers social, recreational and educational activities to improve the health and well being of local people in Ardwick.
The ROHR Zimbabwe team was welcomed by Brian, a staff member of Healthy Ardwick at around 12:30 hrs and went through the volunteer registration and health & safety formalities before being given the tools for the job of the day.
Clad in high visibility vests and armed with an array of appropriate tools, they set about pruning the vegetation overgrowth around the perimeter fence of the premises and removing the resultant rubbish to a designated site at the back of the facility.
The job, which took about three hours, left the place generally spruced up, much to the pleasure and appreciation of users of the sports facility and members of the public who use the road along the perimeter of the premises.
At the end of the day, Brian, representing Healthy Ardwick, expressed their appreciation for the work.
ROHR Zimbabwe’s Manchester branch has committed itself to engaging in more community voluntary work at Ardwick Sports Hall in future at the bidding of Healthy Ardwick management and staff.
We are pleased to work in partnership with organisations like Healthy Ardwick, which deliver invaluable services to the community.
