ROHR Zimbabwe’s response to S.B. Moyo’s statement on 26th May 2020 on the abduction and torture of MDC female trio.

As restoration of Human Rights (ROHR) Zimbabwe we are deeply appalled at the tone of your press statement dated the 26^th of May 2020 with regards to the abduction of the 3 MDC Alliance activists MP Johanna Mamombe, Cecilia Chimbiri and Netsai Marova.  

The allusion in your statement to the abduction as ‘having similar hallmarks of stage- managed theatre’ was very distasteful considering the level of trauma and suffering that these women were subjected to. There have been several reported incidents of abduction and torture that have been perpetrated against citizens  that have occurred during this current government’s tenure but no perpetrators have ever been brought to book despite the numerous times that the government have alleged that they were investigating these incidents.

As Restoration of Human Rights (ROHR) we are now holding the government to account to ensure that a thorough investigation is made into the abduction, torture and sexual assault of the three MDC activists and that a report of the findings be made public. We also look forward to the perpetrators being brought to justice.
