On Saturday the 4thof September 2021, the South Branch of the UK Chapter Restoration of Human Rights (ROHR) Zimbabwe held a meeting on zoom at 1408hrs. The meeting was chaired by Thabani Muleya (Branch Chairperson).

Current situation in Zimbabwe.
The meeting started with Thabani speaking about current affairs happening in Zimbabwe. This included a number of initiatives aimed towards encouraging the young people to vote and how we as individuals can help. She also spoke about the trending issue of banning kombis (commuter omnibuses) and how people are only allowed to use ZUPCO (The Zimbabwe United Passenger Company) buses only and how the overcrowding is too much especially in these COVID times. She also spoke about news of a young girl missing in Gwanda. Thabani encouraged us as activists to keep on speaking out against human rights abuses in Zimbabwe through social media platforms.

The meeting deliberated on a number of other human rights abuses happening in Zimbabwe.

Update on the plans for demonstrations in Scotland at COP26 against the Zimbabwean President
The dates for the demonstration are still to be confirmed. Thabani encouraged everyone to attend and those who are going to inform Nicolate Gwati, the UK Chapter Chairperson so that the necessary logistical arrangements can be updated. ROHR Zimbabwe North branch started the campaign against President Emmerson Mnangagwa coming to the UK to attend the COP26 in Glasgow and all other branches are being encouraged to join in the campaign. Thabani said she can assist with transport costs and those who want to contribute can contact her directly. The meeting agreed to create our banner for the COP26 Conference demonstration in Glasgow and to make arrangements for travel and accommodation in a timely manner.
Everyone has to be involved in the campaign and do one as South branch. Sheila will report to the group about accommodation prices in Scotland.

There was no other business.

All agenda items and any other business having been exhausted, Thabani  thanked everyone for attending , said a closing prayer and declared the meeting closed at 1524hrs.
