Presentation by Andrew Nyamayaro of Tann Law Solicitors

Andrew told us the law that Tann Law specializes in:- Litigation, Employment, Immigration, Family & Matrimonial, Business & Corporate, Charity, Welfare Benefits, Wills and Trust & Probate. They are also Commissioners of Oath.

He spoke mainly about the importance of everyone having a will and advised us how important it is to appoint your executor and your beneficiaries.

For the will to be valid it needs to be signed before two witnesses.

There are some people that you cannot automatically exclude from your will such as your children as you will need to have a very good reason as to why you are excluding them.

A letter of intent must be included with your reasons stating why you are excluding your children from the will.

Living with a partner does not automatically entitle you to their benefits, they must include you in their will.

Instead of giving the proceeds of your estate to beneficiaries, a trust could be created, and all the benefits could be paid into the trust.

A trust can have a life span of up to 125years

A basic will, will cost about £200 to be done by a solicitor

When the will is done, the solicitor will keep a copy, one copy is given to the client and another copy will be stored at a will storage place at a cost of about £30 a year.
